Quote of the Day

Take a sprinkling of fairy dust,
An angel's single feather,
Also a dash of love and care,
Then mix them both together.
Add a sentiment or two,
A thoughtful wish or line
A touch of stardust, a sunshine ray...
It's a recipe, for a Baby Girl truly fine.

The Psychologist, the New Computer and the Plant

So the psychologist has been feeling a little more motivated to go to work lately because she's got a New Computer complete with the latest OS (Windows Vista) set up in her office. The New Computer is fast, efficient, and chio. The interface is just a joy to navigate.

And the psychologist returns home every day after work to two cute little pots of indoor plants that she got from a family fun day at a VWO. The two potted plants fit perfectly into the bathroom and there is nothing more soothing than seeing spots of green in a otherwise plain-looking space.

Today, the day started like any other day before it-the psychologist went to work, switched on her computer, and eagerly started work. The day passed on rather uneventfully, until 5.15 pm, just 15 minutes before the day is supposed to end like any other. The psychologist was finally able to return to her office to wrap things up (you know, look through emails, finish up spots of work, etc). As she reached over to press 'CTRL+ALT+DEL' to log on to the New Computer, the 'blue screen of death' flashed across the LCD monitor, and before you can say 'boo' the screen goes black. The psychologist can only blink and wonder what happened. Subsequent attempts to valiantly save the New Computer by herself failed. The New Computer has passed out. And the psychologist, for all her ability to 'read minds,' just couldn't read this one. And she certainly has no idea if the documents that she had recently created on the New Computer has survived any of this.

Remembering what she teaches her students in anger management, the psychologist decides to try to calm herself down and go home. Yes, she has dinner with her husband, who tries to assure her that all is not lost on the New Computer (bless the sweet man). The psychologist feels better, but just wants to go home. The husband obliges, and when they reach home, the psychologist heaves a sigh of relief. She heads for the bathroom as she always does every day upon returning home, and realises to her horror that one of the cute little indoor plants has gone... soft. What happened to the Plant? Too little water? Too much? Bathroom too hot? ....

As the psychologist ponders about today, she realises that the day had started out like any other day, but ended with her feeling like the unluckiest person in the world. Oh yah. The aircon at the psychologist's workplace had broken down today too. Boo. Hoo. Hoo.
